Healthcare, Pharma & Life Sciences

Health systems, pharma and biotech, medical devices, health insurers, health-tech and clinical research organizations.

Healthcare is broad, so this list is grouped by what actually hires international graduates: academic medical centers and large health systems (research, data and informatics roles), pharma and biotech (biostatistics, clinical data, regulatory, process and quality engineering), medical-device makers (R&D, quality and validation engineering), health insurers and health-tech (analytics, software, actuarial), and CROs (clinical research, data management). Clinical licensed roles (nursing, pharmacy, physician) have separate credentialing paths — these listings focus on non-clinical and research roles.

Before you apply

  • Non-profit hospitals and universities are H-1B cap-exempt — they can file any time of year, which makes them unusually reliable sponsors.
  • Pharma and device companies value GxP/FDA exposure: mention 21 CFR Part 11, GCP, ISO 13485 or CAPA work if you have it.
  • SAS, R and SQL are the default toolset for biostatistics and clinical data roles; Epic or Cerner familiarity for informatics.
  • Boston/Cambridge, the NJ pharma corridor, the Bay Area, San Diego, Research Triangle NC, Minneapolis (devices) and Indianapolis are the core hubs.
